Women’s Mental Health Treatment

Family expectations, career demands, and societal norms all place unique pressures on women. Your physical health also has a significant impact on your emotional wellbeing.

That’s why my approach to therapy considers the physical and social factors influencing your wellbeing. Whether you are coping with anxiety, depression, or big life changes, I can help you gain deeper self-understanding and cope with whatever life throws your way.

Counseling for Prenatal and Postpartum Depression and Anxiety

If you’re feeling overwhelmed during the transition to motherhood, therapy can provide you with practical guidance and support to help you become to be the mom you want to be. I specialize in therapy for pregnant and postpartum women to help you care for yourself while growing your family.

Therapy for Challenges during your Journey to Parenthood

The road to becoming a parent is often not what we expect. Infertility, pregnancy loss, medical complications, and difficult birth experiences can have significant mental health impacts. New dads and non-birthing parents can also experience anxiety and depression. Psychotherapy can help you learn new ways to cope, communicate and build a life aligned with your values and family’s needs.

Working with Me

I want you to be supported and challenged by our work together. I use insight, humor, and practical suggestions to help you know yourself and your needs better. By the end of therapy, my goal is that you have deeper self awareness, stronger relationships, and less stress in daily life.

I strongly believe that our individual challenges are inextricably linked to larger social and societal structures. My work with you will not only focus on individual-level factors but address systemic issues as well. Understanding the impact of cultural and societal forces allows us to more accurately and compassionately view our own struggles and to identify new solutions.

Families come in all shapes and sizes. I strive to provide culturally competent care to families of all backgrounds and identities. My work is LGBTQ affirming and supports reproductive rights.

Short and Long Term Therapy

It is common wonder how long therapy will last or whether it will be helpful. To address these concerns, we will work together to establish shared goals and a personalized plan for your care.

In my practice, I provide both short term (3-6 months) and long term treatment. My goal is that all my clients will see significant positive impacts within the first three months. From that point, the decision whether to pursue long or short term treatment is determined by your specific goals and preferences.

Short term treatment is generally focused on increasing your understanding of current challenges, adopting new coping strategies, and accessing needed support. Longer term treatment is appropriate for people who seek to develop an in-depth understanding of themselves, benefit from ongoing support, or are coping with persistent challenges.

No matter the duration of treatment, we will evaluate your progress regularly to make sure therapy is addressing your symptoms and supporting you in living the life you want to lead.
